They say
you can tell a lot about someone by looking at their music collection.
For example if it includes anything by Genesis or Dire Straits you
should leave all belongings and bolt for the nearest exit.
I
love discovering new music. Music that deserves to be listened to
as opposed to being played in the background includes Nick Drake,
Guster, Badly Drawn Boy, Granian and the Clint Boon Experience.
I'm
also beginning to enjoy a lot of stuff by Damien Rice, The Thrills
and David Kitt. A friend has recently introduced me to an Australian
band called the Whitlams and some of it seems to be growing on me.
I
think the Eels have immense talent and if you haven't heard anything
by the Shins I strongly urge you to stop reading and get on Amazon
now - Oh,
Inverted World is one of the best albums I've come across and
James Mercer's voice has to be heard to be believed. Buy it. It will
change your life.
If
I had to pick out one favourite all rounder, it would have to be Belle
and Sebastian. Excellent music, well constructed and brilliantly performed.
I bow down to the genius of Stuart Murdoch.

my candle.
