The great folks I met last night all are owlish about the possibility of re-election of the great shrub.

Just returned from a few days in Spain with Edward, Garnett and Dave. We started in Bilbao where we caught the end of the Rothko exhibition at the Guggenheim - amazing building. We then spent a few days in Madrid. We had a lot of fun sampling the Madrid nightlife, downing tequila slammers, spilling drinks and getting our car towed twice.

I can't believe John Peel is dead.

Elaine. The stains on the banner are coffee spilt from late nights toiling over html and cgi scripts - not poo.

Just got back home from a BBC recording of a new Radio 2 series called Clive Anderson's Chat Room I went to with Elaine. What a hoot. If you live in London, enjoy comedy and like things on the cheap, you should be booking your tickets. The guests tonight were Brian Sewell, Arthur Smith, Anna Raeburn and Phil Jupitus. I accidentally left my cap behind in the theatre, and had to go back and get it. Imagine my joy when I got to meet Phil Jupitus and Anna Raeburn on my second exit.

I was chatting to the nice chap who owns the jewellery shop that is situated below my bedroom last night. As well as filling me in on the perils of buying Rolex watches that pre-date 1985, he also gave me a potted history of the street I live on. Apparently Virgina Woolf came here to buy kettles and Kenneth Williams used to live a couple of doors down. Oooo mince.

He was also telling me that when Mahatma Gandhi spent six months in London in 1931, that he was a regular visitor to the shop. Funny to think Gandhi has stood patiently waiting for his Sekonda to be serviced just yards away from where I now sit.

He also said that if I have another loud party on a Saturday afternoon that he was going to cut off my water supply.

tellingstories.org is a website put together by the Urban School of San Francisco. Six people recount their holocaust experiences. Quite amazing. I was completely enthralled by Gloria Hollander Lyon.

I'm an avid BBC7 listener having invested in a digital radio back in April. If you haven't bought into the digital revolution yet but, like me, spend hours staring at a monitor, then you might like to sample it on t'interweb. You can listen live here and browse the whole of last weeks schedule here.

Around 9pm last night Mildred went down losing all of my files / data from the past year or so (not to mention all of my recent freelance work). I had to call on my friend Brian for help. Luckily Brian is a computer genius and, having worked on it through the night, managed to solve the problem at around six this morning. I owe you a beer or five Brian. And I promise I'll start doing back-ups.

This is Brian, perky - some would say cocky - at around 10pm.

Frustration setting in at around 3am.

Shouts and attacks, tearing at cables at 4:30am.

5:45am: Brian tracks the problem down to a small Guatemalan family living in one of Mildred's server cabinets. Well done Brian.
